TCT circular saw blades are often used for aluminium, copper and brass, but HSS metal circular saw blades are also suitable for non-ferrous metals. Which version is right depends on the machine, the profile and the quantities.
We have been manufacturing circular saw blades since 1974, including for non-ferrous metals, and sharpen both types in-house. Our industrial customers use these blades, for example, to cut aluminium profiles for windows and architectural hardware.
TCT or HSS?
TCT blades have carbide teeth and are typical for aluminium, copper, brass and plastics. HSS blades are made of high-speed steel and are used mainly for steel, tubes and profiles – and, depending on the application, for non-ferrous metals too.
We design new blades for series cutting of profiles to your requirements and operating conditions. TCT circular saw blades · HSS metal circular saw blades
Tooth form and angles
The triple-chip grind (TCG) is often used for aluminium, non-ferrous metals and plastics – which tooth form is right depends on the material, the profile and the machine. With TCG, a slightly higher trapezoidal tooth cuts first and a slightly lower flat tooth follows to clear the kerf. This form is considered wear-resistant.
We set the angles to suit your saw and your application.
The wall thickness of your profiles also plays a role – we are happy to advise you. Tooth forms of circular saw blades and their purpose
Window profiles and architectural hardware
When producing windows and architectural hardware, aluminium and plastic profiles are often cut in series. Clean, low-burr cuts and predictable tool life then usually matter more than the price of an individual blade.
Our tip: have your blade sharpened as soon as the cut quality deteriorates – then less material has to be removed. Recognising a blunt blade
How we sharpen blades for non-ferrous metals
All our grinding machines use oil cooling – for clean, sharp cutting edges and less heat at the tooth. More about oil cooling ›
